After Hearts extended his contract, Barnieh was presented by FC Zurich.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, a midfielder for the Black Stars, has been signed by Swiss Super League team FC Zurich from Accra Hearts of Oak.

On January 3, the 13-time Swiss champions welcomed Barnieh.

The action was taken shortly after Hearts of Oak stated that the goal scorer's contract would be extended.The agreement is anticipated to keep the former captain of Ghana's U-20 team at the club through 2026.

Barnieh competed for the Black Stars at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Despite not playing much for Otto Addo's team during the competition, he played a key role in their 2-0 victory against Switzerland in the pre-tournament friendly in the United Arab Emirates.
