Dr. Nkansah succeeded Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa as the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service.
The appointment sparked a new round of strikes by the major teacher unions.
They claimed that there had been a violation of the long-standing rule that a professional should be appointed to the position.
Nevertheless, the strike was later called off.
