Former President John Dramani Mahama reprimanded members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Caucus for privately endorsing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-nominations Addo's for ministerial positions.
Given the principled stand they adopted a few weeks ago to reject the nominees in order to push the administration to lower its size, he claimed that the MPs have "sorely disappointed" Ghanaians.
After Parliament accepted each of the six nominees in a secret vote on Saturday, March 25, he posted, "I am also upset," on his official Facebook page.
He urged those guilty for this betrayal to undergo some serious soul-searching and learn to put the needs of the country before their own.
He also criticized the Akufo-Addo led administration for squandering a chance to shrink its size after some ministers resigned.
"President Akufo-Addo, his NPP administration, and some of our MPs are obviously out of touch with the spirit of the Ghanaian people in this time of crisis and agonising hardships," the statement read.
He encouraged everyone who was disappointed in the outcome of Friday's Parliamentary proceedings, including Ghanaians, to vote for him the next year so that he may "work and construct the Ghana we all desire from January 07, 2025."By Sascovibesgh
