The Promotion of Appropriate Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, often known as the Anti-Gay Bill and now being debated in Parliament, has been rejected by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The anti-gay bill, which is being proposed as a Private Members' Bill, is anticipated to make some homosexual practices in Ghana illegal.
President Akufo-Addo responded to a query that was directed at him at the Jubilee House on Monday, March 27, when US Vice President Kamala Harris visited him. He confirmed that the bill is presently before Parliament, which will decide on it, but that the majority of its provisions are still being adjusted.
"The statement that there is legislation in Ghana to that effect is not accurate," he said. "It hasn't been passed."
He continued, "Parliament is dealing with it, and I will enter at the conclusion of the process."
As part of Vice President Harris' three-day tour to the nation, President Akufo-Addo welcomed him to the capital.
She emphasized how passionately she believes that it is crucial to support and fight for the cause of human rights, especially the rights of LGBTQ people.
