The Narcotics Control Commission's Upper West regional command has accused the police of underreporting the amount of compressed substances believed to be marijuana that were seized by a combined police-immigration tax force on December 1 in Liero, a neighborhood in the Sissala West district.
As a result, the commission has asked the state attorney to assist in locating the packages of suspected marijuana.

A joint police-immigration tax force was dispatched to Liero, a community in the Sissala West district, on December 1, and intercepted some compressed substances believed to be marijuana. The Narcotics Control Commission's Upper West regional command has accused the police of understating the amount of these substances.
The commission has therefore asked the state attorney to assist in locating the packages of the allegedly marijuana.
Based on intelligence, a patrol team made up of police and immigration officers swooped into the Liero home of a man (name withheld) and discovered that most of the rooms were stocked with sacks containing what was thought to be marijuana.
981 parcels of the suspected substance, according to a statement from NACOC, were kept in immigration's possession, while several other parcels were given to the police.
The items held by the Immigration Services have since been verified by the Commission based on intelligence. Nevertheless, despite repeated requests, the Police refused to provide the Commission with information regarding the quantity and location of the substances mentioned here, according to a statement from NACOC.
