4-death New Year's accident in Takoradi

After being involved in an accident at Takoradi in the Western Region, four people have been declared dead.

Two buses were involved in the collision, which occurred early on January 1, 2023.

A sprinter bus with the registration number LB-B11992 registered in the Republic of Liberia and a bus for the Assemblies of God with the registration number GT 4481-22.


Some churchgoers were traveling in the Assemblies of God bus from Accra to Asankragwa, while the sprinter was traveling in the opposite route.

An eyewitness claimed that the sprinter had been traveling at top speed when it struck the bus at Kojokrom's New Apostolic Junction while it was negotiating a curve.


"Church people who were traveling to Accra for a camp gathering were placed onto the yellow bus. WhilstIt ran into the sprinter vehicle as it was on its way back to Asankragwa. When I got here, the Assemblies of God bus' driver was in shaky condition, according to Kofi Amoah, an eyewitness.

The Liberian sprinter bus contained four male passengers, four of whom have been confirmed dead, and many more are in severe condition.

Minor injuries were reported by passengers on the Ghanaian bus, who were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The Ghana National Fire Service and Police were required to intervene in order to help.
