Existing Covid-19 control procedures will need to be tightened and evaluated, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), in order to prevent the spread of the illness.
The Service reports that even while the viral sickness has declined and remained at low levels in the nation over the previous three months, a surge in cases in China and other nations has raised concerns.
As a result, the situation necessitates careful observation before the next course of action, according to the Service.
In a statement released on Sunday, January 1, the Director-General of the Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, stated that "Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health are closely monitoring the situation in cooperation with key partners."
"We will soon release our nation-specific steps to counter the present Covid-19 threat, particularly with regard to importation."
It advised Ghanaians to be vaccinated to help the situation just a little bit.
"Those who have taken their first dose should take their second dose, and those who have taken their second dose are urged to take the booster as well.
The best defense against Covid-19 infection is still vaccination.
