Accountant is kept in jail after a 69k scam

A 45-year-old accountant named Fredrick Wundowah was placed on detention by the Accra High Court after he defrauded a merchant of GH69,000.00.
Mr. Wundowah is accused of obtaining nine security doors made in China from the complainant, trader Madam Lydia Osei, with the promise to pay her through a business's check account but failing to do so.
He faces charges for fraud by false pretenses and conspiracy to commit crime. His defense was not guilty.
Chief Inspector Maxwell Ayim, the prosecuting attorney, asked the court to confine the accused person because he would obstruct the police investigation.
If he is given bail, Chief Inspector Maxwell Ayim claimed it would be challenging for the Police to apprehend his collaborators.
As a result, the accused was remanded into police custody by the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah, with a new court date of February 7, 2023.
According to the report, the complainant, Madam Lydia Osei, lived in Kumasi but operated a business selling Chinese doors in Jamestown, Accra, while the accused, Fredrick Wundowah, was a resident of Abokobi, a town close to Accra.
According to the prosecution, on January 9, 2023, Madam Osei marketed some of her products online, sparking curiosity from a potential customer.
The purchaser allegedly went on to order nine of the Chinese doors and requested that they be delivered to an unfinished building at Cantonments, Accra.
The buyer told Madam Osei that he had deposited a Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) Cheque bearing the company name Trice Derick Limited, which belonged to Wundowah, the prosecution claimed. Madam Osei then opened the doors for the buyer.
According to the report, Madam Osei was persuaded after reading the company name on the check and gave the doors to one of Wundowah's associates at the construction site per the buyer's instructions.
According to the prosecution, Madam Osei received a call from the CBG's Labone branch on January 12, 2023, informing her that the check she had been given for the doors was a fake.
When Madam Osei heard it, she promptly sent her staff to the mentioned construction site, but the doors had already been hauled off to somewhere else.
According to the prosecution, Madam Osei reported the incident to the Jamestown Police Station on January 18, 2023, for inquiry.
It stated that Wundowah was apprehended at his hideout in East Legon as a result of police intelligence. Through the accomplice's phone number who accepted delivery of the doors, he was located.
