The Akufo-Addo administration has come under fire from former president John Dramani for failing to complete even one hospital as promised under the Agenda 111 initiative years later.
According to Mr. Mahama, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) needs to learn to respect Ghanaians and keep its commitments.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate stated in a tweet on January 14 that "The 'Agenda 111' hospitals pledge is in its fourth year, yet not a single hospital has been finished to enable quality health care delivery."
"This is in direct conflict with the grand promise made in 2020. The NPP needs to start treating Ghanaians with respect. Stop with the slogans!
On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launched the Agenda 111 project, promising to build 111 hospitals across the nation.
The President mentioned, among other things, that the project will eventually create 20,000 jobs for health professionals during the commissioning of the project in Trede, in the Ashanti Region.
When the project is finished, he claimed that the Ministry of Health would hire more physicians, nurses, and pharmacists.
Additionally, he claimed that the project's execution will result in the creation of more indirect jobs.

The president added that years of underinvestment in Ghana's health sector were revealed by the Covid-19 outbreak.
To that purpose, he said that the investments made by his administration in the health sector of the economy were increasing.He remarked, "I am pleased that the country is making the largest investment in healthcare ever. We came together this morning in response to Covid 19, which has wreaked havoc in every nation on earth. The pandemic has interrupted our daily lives here in Ghana, but it has also highlighted the flaws in our healthcare system that have been there for years due to underfunding and negligence.
During the event, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, the minister of health, stated that building infrastructure was the best method for the government to enhance the delivery of healthcare.
In order to do this, he stated that the government was dedicated to supplying the required health infrastructure.
As you are aware, a healthy populace ensures a healthy nation, and the government, conscious of this reality, has demonstrated to the populace its dedication to raising the standard of health for all citizens of the nation.
The creation of new infrastructure or simply upgrading old ones throughout the entire nation is the surest approach to improve healthcare.
Mr. Agyeman-Manu also disclosed that the project was being impacted by land disputes in Accra and Kumasi.
However, he asserted that the government was making every effort to see that these issues were resolved in order to allow the project to go without incident.
