Zabzugu MP's election petition from the NDC was denied

In Zabzugu, in the Northern Region, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been declared the victor of the 2020 parliamentary elections.

It comes after a court decision from last Friday, January 20.

Alhassan Umar Abaako, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for parliament, contested the election results as they were announced in 2020.

After the declaration was tainted by miscommunication between party agents, Jabaah John Bennam of the NPP, who received 17,580 votes, was declared the winner at the regional office of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC).

Presiding Judge Daniel Obeng stated in his decision that the petitioner's arguments did not significantly or materially change the outcome of the results as announced by the EC.

Therefore, he confirmed Mr. Bennam Jabaah's election as the Member of Parliament.

After a petition was brought against him, the same court also upheld the election of Abdulai Jacob Iddriss of the NDC as the MP for Savelugu. By Sascovibesgh.
