Afia Schwarzenegger, a social media celebrity, Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, was fined Ghc60,000 by the Tema High Court in a contempt matter that was on the court's docket.
In addition, the court fined the social media star 5,000 for making derogatory remarks about the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.
Afia Schwarzenegger was additionally ordered by the court to sign a bond of good behavior for a period of 36 months and was further instructed not to remark or make any pronouncements regarding the matter during the bond period.
She will have to appear in court if any of the orders are broken.
On December 1, 2022, Afia Schwarzenegger received a 10-day jail sentence for contempt when Mr. Boasiako sued her for failing to appear in court.
She appeared on December 20, 2022, with the assistance of her attorney, Mr. Adrian Duke Amaning, who presented a request on notice to modify the sentence.
Mr. Amaning requested the Court to suspend the sentence in accordance with order 50 rule 4(1) and rule 5 of the high Court rules, which deal with the suspension of an order and the discharge of a person who has committed a crime. According to Mr. Amaning, his client expressed regret and later apologized to the court in writing.
