Between January and September 2022, the Presidency spent GH15 million replacing the batteries and tires on the vehicles in its fleet.

This is supported by expense documents that the Presidency gave to the Parliament.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the North Tongu Constituency's Member of Parliament, revealed.

Mr. Ablakwa claims that this makes a mockery of the government's appeal to Ghanaians to shoulder some of the country's financial load.The afflicted Ghanaian taxpayer was forced to spend an astonishing GHS15 million (15,000,000.00) for tires and batteries for official vehicles, he said on Facebook on January 31.

The Presidency also spent GH59.4 million on "operational augmentation expenditure," according to the Ranking on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament.

"Whatever that beast is, the President's 'operational enhancement expense' cost the hapless Ghanaian taxpayer a mind-boggling GH59.4million (59,486,108.91)," Mr. Ablakwa continued.

The former deputy minister for education argued that the government had broken its pledge to cut fuel spending by 50%, which had been made public by Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, the minister of finance.

"The suffering Ghanaian taxpayer was forced to pay a staggering GH51.1 million for the gasoline bills paid at the presidency during the course of the nine-month period under consideration. (51,109,137.86).

He continued, "Empirical analysis shows that government failed abjectly in its commitment to cut fuel expenditure by 50%.
