The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has denounced the choice made by certain of its members of Parliament (MPs) to ignore morality and vote for the six cabinet candidates put forward by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in order to further their personal agendas.
The party claimed that these rebel MPs' actions "constitute a tremendous stab in the back of the good people of Ghana" and only betray the stated wishes of the NDC.
Members who upheld the party's ideals, in particular the Caucus leadership, were praised warmly by the party, according to the statement.
The General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, made a statement that read, "We will stop at nothing to identify them and publicly laud them in due course."
"Their patriotism and commitment won't be forgotten."
According to the party, despite the "betrayal," it will continue to stand with the millions of its supporters and Ghanaians who are dissatisfied with the overburdened Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.
It stated that "without a doubt, our nation is currently seeing the worst economic collapse in recent memory."
Hence, it is unacceptable for anyone to support the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government's continuous irresponsibility, let alone a Member of Parliament who upholds the NDC's beliefs.
