The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), according to their Director General in charge of Public Affairs, Eric Aggrey Quarshie, have won praise from a number of Ghanaians for the actions they did at Asahiman in response to the death of a soldier.
Many are inquiring as to when they would return to the region, he claimed.
Speaking on Thursday, March 23, at the Institute of Public Relations' Annual General Conference and National Public Relations and Communications Summit, he said that while a lot had been going on at Asahiman, the death of the soldier Sherrif Imoro was the straw that finally broke the camel's back.
It wasn't someone who woke up one morning and said, "Let's go to Asahiman; so many things are happening, and our soldier dying became like the last straw that broke the camel's back," the man claimed.
"Ashaiman, there are still areas where the police won't dare enter and make an arrest. We were monitoring the incident because when someone commits a crime, you can't even go there to apprehend the offender.
He continued, "The amount of calls congratulating us for the acts in Asahiman that I have got and the institution has received. Many are requesting when we will repeat that.
The military received harsh criticism for using force to capture and brutally treat some people they believed to be the soldier's killers.
