Van Calebs, a Ghanaian event planner, has lamented the terrible experience he had when attempting to put on a significant event in Togo.
The "Black Friday" show promised to provide viewers with excellent pleasure through music, fashion, and sports.
Expectations and confidence were high in the Van Calebs camp because a large number of Ghanaian and Togolese artists were scheduled to perform at the event.
The organizing team was also certain that the Palais de Congress event space would be completely occupied.
However, the auditorium was almost empty despite the participation of Ghanaian celebrities like Van Vicker, Prince David Osei, Patapaa, Chief One, and Jah Phinga as well as a number of A-list Togolese artists and entertainers.
As a result, in order to fill the auditorium, the organizers had to waive the fee and make it a free-for-all event.
The event was dubbed "the worst day of my life" by Van Calebs.
He claimed that the show's goal was to aid in the revitalization of Togo's entertainment industry, but the local promoters he hired and put his trust in to publicize the event undermined him.
"I had to start personally inviting people to the show so they could watch it for free. Because the Togolese felt scared by our potential for success, they ruined our performance. I sobbed all night long.
"Investing in entertainment in Togo is like to going into the fires of hell. This has been my worst experience to date, he stressed, adding that he had over ten years of expertise in the event and advertising industries.
