A War College for the Ghanaian Armed Forces is being established, according to President Nana Akufo-Addo (GAF).
The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) will provide seed money for the Institution's establishment, and it is anticipated that it will serve as the system's fulcrum.
When it is built, it will also supply and enhance professional education for the highest echelons of military leadership.
The news was made by President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday at the GAF's 2022 West African Soldiers Social Activities (WASSA) celebrations at the Burma camp in Accra.
He informed the crowd that he had given the Defence Ministry and the highest military command the responsibility of seeing to it that the War College is operating this year.
The goal of a War College is to educate and develop senior military leaders, strategists, and tacticians. It is a senior military academy. Advanced tactical and strategic doctrines and policy are created there as well.
The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), which has the responsibility of teaching senior GAF and allied officers of Africa, would expand its existing training programs with the addition of the proposed War College.
Not only in the field of defense and military studies, but also in governance and leadership, international politics, administration and management, as well as crisis and conflict management, GAFCSC is renowned as a top university and a regional training facility.
The President, who serves as the GAF's Commander-in-Chief, reaffirmed his commitment to seeing to the GAF's ongoing retooling and transformation in order to increase its capacity and capability.
He promised that the armed forces would be given better training facilities, logistics, and infrastructure to handle today's security challenges. He also pledged that the government would make no compromises in its effort to transform the GAF into a world-class military establishment.
GAF officers, soldiers, and members were praised by President Akufo-Addo for "putting your life on the line to protect the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity."
The sacrifices made by the armed forces to maintain the peace and security of our nation are still valued by the government and people of Ghana, he said.
