earthquake in Turkey and Syria: Christian Atsu's spouse requests rescue tools

Football player Christian Atsu's partner has requested that equipment be delivered to the building that has collapsed where he was living since Atsu has been missing since the Monday earthquake in Turkey.
Atsu, a player for the Turkish team Hatayspor, was reportedly pulled "with injuries" from a building.
However, a day later, his agent verified he was missing.
Claire Rupio, a resident of Newcastle, United Kingdom, told BBC News, "I still pray and think that he is alive."
His whereabouts have been the subject of contradicting reports, which Rupio calls "confusing" and "very shocking," adding that their kids had heard on the radio that dad was still missing.
I request the Hatayspor club, the Turkish government, and the British government to send out the tools to rescue individuals from the wreckage, especially my spouse and the father of my children, the woman stated.
They can't get that deep without the equipment, so they need it to get them out. And the clock is ticking.
Since the earthquake and its subsequent aftershocks, more than 21,000 people have perished in southern Turkey and northern Syria.
Taner Savut, the sporting director of Atsu's club Hatayspor, as well as Atsu have not been seen since the earthquake on Monday.
Hatayspor's vice-president told Turkish media on Tuesday that Atsu had been discovered alive, but other club officials and Atsu's agent Nana Sechere indicated on Wednesday that they had not been able to corroborate this.
According to Rupio, the agent is currently in Turkey and attempting to enter the Hatay building where Atsu is.
On Thursday, Sechere tweeted: "The situation remains the same, Christian Atsu is still missing. I have no new information unless I speak with or see Christian.
Rupio continued, "They know where the building is, and they're doing their best to save everyone.
They are aware that there are still people buried beneath the debris, but they lack the tools required to free them.
He is still absent, and we are unsure of his whereabouts.
The Atsu reports are perplexing and alarming.
Atsu and Rupio last spoke on Saturday morning. She called the false information from the club that Atsu had been saved "very startling."
After 11 hours, her children had to hear on the radio that they still did not know where he was, despite the club's confirmation that he had been discovered, was alive, and had been transferred to the hospital.
"I am aware that his agent is looking hard to locate him there. Obviously, if he meets him or speaks to him, he will give me news I can believe in. Everything is pretty muddled.
Atsu, 31, had time with Chelsea, Everton, and Bournemouth before playing 107 games for Newcastle.
